I can thank Marty Karabin for providing Vertical Archaeology with these two LONGware T-stock pitons. The original owners were Dana Hollister and Bill Sewrey.
It’s amazing that these two items are in good shape because they seem to be simple aluminum T-stock drilled and cut to length. They are very soft and would likely deform under any load or a few hammer blows. I’ve seen photos of them placed as chocks, utilizing the slight angle cut on the end, to wedge in and hopefully stay put. I think they would have been a “body weight only“ placement. Forrest Titons and Chimney Chocks would eventually revisit this idea and actually work well due to being made of much stronger material.
