Sierra Club Rock Climbing Section Pin
Found on eBay and donated to our archives, not much is known about this pin. The Sierra Club RCS was a meeting place for many significant names in American climbing in the 1950s, 1960, and into the 1970s. Their club history reads like a “who’s who” of California climbers.
The name etched on the back seems to be “J.M. Whitney”
I lost my RCS pin to a robbery years ago and have always wanted to replace it. Besides Eagle Scout, this pin is of major importance in my life. I earned my pin in 1961 (?) at age 15 in LA. Still climbing.
Does anyone know where I might get, buy, or earn another pin. Thank would make life awesome again. On belay…

Hi George,
Thank you for the story and the feeling of how important your pin and those times are for you. I don’t know where you might find another pin but I might suggest contacting the LA section of the Sierra Club or Ken Yeager at the Yosemite Climbing Archives. They are better tuned into the community there in California and they might know how to help you out. Good Luck sir!
