Mystery Hammer
I acquired this hammer several years ago along with some soft iron pitons and items which dated to the late 1950s and early 1960s. It has no markings and manufacturing stamp of any kind. I know of one other hammer exactly like this model and it is is on display at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, Colorado. When I’m back in the states I plan a fact finding stop at the store to see if I can date this hammer and several other interesting pieces.
If anyone reading this knows the origins please write me and let me know.
Your Mystery hammer looks very close to th Whillins whammer that the Scottish Mountain Heritage has in its collection at the very least a similar concept.
I agree – looks much like a Don Whillans Whammer. One was on display last year in Keswick, England at the Bonnington exhibit.
