Campbell Saddlewedge #5 and WedgeFast #5 – N.O.S.

Campbell Mountaineering Saddlewedges and Wedgefast chocks have had a bit of a cult following through the years. I know a couple of climbers who still like to carry one or two for the irregular sided cracks of the South Platte area in Colorado.

Our example shows the way they were packaged for retail sale. The pieces are New Old Stock (NOS). The term is used in retail to denote old, often out of date, inventory that isn’t used or opened but isn’t considered current stock. Having worked in a few mountain shops, I always wonder about these survivors. Why were they never opened? Were they lost in a box somewhere or did some climber buy them and put them away un-opened? It’s fascinating to me that they survived in their original state.
