B.A.T. Tent

This B.A.T. (Basically Absurd Technology) Tent was designed by Warren Harding for use on some of his pioneering big wall climbs. This model was sold in 1971 and is an interesting step in the design evolution of the hanging hammock bivy. This type of single point hanging tent worked to a certain degree but it wasn’t very comfortable even in the best of circumstances and could really be a claustrophobia inducing experience. As one early climber once told me, “It doesn’t matter if you’re wet from rain or sweat or run-off or whatever…yer still soaked and pissed off.”

Denali  Company Inc. made and sold the B.A.T. branded equipment.
