This is the first generation Forrest Pin Bin. The bins had simple tapered gates instead of the later spring-style gate. Some interesting details of the early Forrest Pin Bin include:
- An adjustable shoulder sling that is NOT a full runner strength.
- Rubber keepers on the spine of the Pin Bin to keep it oriented correctly on the sling.
- Sewn slots for the pin bin instead of brass grommets as on later models.
- Our Pin Bins show two distinctly different bends to the top of the bin where the gate opens.
Included above is the earliest advertisement I have found for the Pin Bin. Its from Climbing Magazine #3, September 1970 and it shows the original gate design.
