Fisher Griff Fiffi

The Griff Fiffi by Fisher was used to hook aid ladders to a piece of protection. The Ladder was clipped or tied directly to the convenient handle loop. In the photos above the red cord is attached to an eye above the hook and that allowed the climber to pull the Griff Fiffi and the aid slings up behind them when free climbing off the aid placement.

The modern “Fifi Hook” developed from this idea. The hook can be attached to the aid slings or to the climber waist and used with a daisy chain but the concept is the same.

The spelling for of “Fiffi” is from the 1964 and 1968 Fisher catalogs. The second F is now commonly dropped.
