In 1988 John Middendorf published this Big Wall Tech Manual. I remember getting my copy at Poor Richards Used Books in Colorado Springs and it was like getting the secrets of the masters handed down from on high. It was short and to the point. John gave you just enough information to de-mystify the black arts of wall climbing while preserving, and even encouraging, you to find adventure for yourself on walls all over the world. I admit it. I was totally hooked.
This copy of the Big Wall Tech Manual was purchased in 2014 from Barry Ward who worked for A5 in the late 1980’s. Barry climbed many incredible walls and, as the inscription suggests, his big wall ju-ju was fine.
