Fascinating. I bought my first climbing gear at Ellis Brigham on Bold Street, Liverpool, in the summer of 1979.
I’d recently been on a s\week long rock climbing course in Llanberis, North Wales.
We stayed at the youth hostel in Pen-y-pass, and climbed in the pass, as well as at Holyhead, and Idwall.
It was June and the weather was perfect (quite rare in Snowdonia in my experience).
    It was a great week.
Do you have any British climbing/mountaineering equipment calaogues from the late 70s/early 80s ?
I still have a few nuts and karabiners I bought then.

Sorry! For some reason your comment was stuck in some odd limbo on the approval page.
I do have some additional catalogues from the 80s and 90s. I’ll see if I can scan them in.

Great to see the pages, takes me back to those busy days – I wrote a lot of the text, supervised many of the photos, worked closely with the designer.
My climbing club pals Brian on p29 and Pete Minks modelling helmets.
I worked for Ellis and Bob Brigham from 1970 until 1983, for both Ellis Brigham and MOAC divisions.
Also worked at Troll in the 90s
    Greetings from the UK

I’m so glad you found the catalogue! I actually have a few more that I should scan and post.
I love hearing from the people who were there when our climbing history was made.

Coincidentally you sent “greetings from the UK” and I received this email while I was standing in the airport in London. I’m here visiting family and hopefully I’ll get some climbing in. Cheers!
